You can now create and share stand-alone components from within Civil 3D. They can be used to link together two or more components, define menu options, and control other parts of Civil 3D. Components were first introduced in the release of Civil 3.15. They were expanded and made more useful in Civil 3.18. Components have been improved in Civil 3.19 and the latest release of Civil 3D is the first to support multiple components.
You can use the RMS (Revit Model Exchange) protocol to format models and scenes with Civil 3D from any model-based application. Enable RMS exchange from Model Viewer Scene Toggler, as shown here:
If you work with large and complicated model data, model-based applications can be a bit slow when using RMS exchange format (.rmsx) files. Civil 3D solves this problem with a new decimation feature.
In this case, I specify that I have a.rmsx file with a single persistent scene. You can also create as many scenes as you want and save them all with the same format name. From here, I select Decimate, then ok. d2c66b5586
