I have Ubuntu setup on my Sony Vaio laptop. It has a SATA HD drive. I have a slot for a PCI add on card. I have the Sony Metrecard Reader in the Reader slot and a DVD burner in the second slot behind the CD/DVD ROM. The DVD burner works fine. I want to connect my Pinnacle PCTV USB Tuner to the HDMI outlet on the cable TV connector on the back of the laptop. It worked fine when I had MS Windows XP installed. I told the computer to boot into Linux. Then I plug in the tuner. It doesn't show up in the list of hardware drivers to activate. Does anyone know how to activate the tuner without having Windows XP?
I have had Ubuntu 9.10 installed on my Vaio U2 for some time now. I just did an update that I think screwed up the TV tuner. It is no longer listed in the hardware drivers. I already tried reinstalling the drivers I had installed (which were supposedly for a XP compatible tuner card) and that didn't work. I then tried the manual installation instructions for the tuner (http://www.enlightenment.org/pipermail/download/2010-November/017664.html). That didn't work either.
My computer is running XP pro and I have a sony vaio mk460 laptop. It came with a PCI hole in the back of the case to plug in a tuner card. I have a pci tuner card (composite yellow) that I used for live tv in Windows XP, and I would like to use it in Ubuntu. 7211a4ac4a
