The title block editor provides an example (it was small in the beginning) for an easy integration of CATIA V5with other applications. The program is free and can be distributed and used free of charge. The copyright followsthe GNU copyright.
Of course, if you add sheets, the frame title block appears in the newly created sheets on the condition you go to Tools->Options -> Mechanical Design ->Drafting (Layout tab). Check the Copy background view option and the First sheet option, and you will insert the frame and title view from the sheet you previously created on the current drawing.
CATIA gives its users the possibility to use a VBscript macro to generate Title Blocks automatically adjusted to any drawing format. A few macros are provided by default. Users can customize frames and title blocks by either modifying one the default title block macros or by creating their own macros.
Ok, I've made a custom title block in Catia but I can't figure out how to create all of the links to the part (part name, page size, weight, drawn by etc..) so that when I update the drawing, these update with it. The closest I've come to finding the solution is from some guys who sell the program that basically does exactly that but where's the fun in that?
I currently have a giant stack of parts that I need to make the drawings for using my new title block, so if you're reading this and can help in any way, I'll be the most greatful grab cad member of all time.
The best, as in, most professional way to solve this problem is using Macros. This however involves measuring each and every point that you use to create lines for your title box and then programming them in using Macros (which is surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it but nevertheless ridiculously time consuming) to get your final title block. You can even add your new title block into the list of existing sample title blocks provided by catia by simply saving your new macro in the same directory as the sample catia macros. This is best accomplished by copy - pasting the macro used to create the sample title blocks and then editing them. This is explained here:
The most practicle way of solving this problem however is by simply, using one of the sample title blocks provided by catia, editing the lines and adding logos and such to create your custom title block, but making sure not to delete the values expressing scale, weight, drawing title and such. These can then be dragged into your custom title block by hand.
If you then save the drawing that should now be a blank drawing with your new customised title block, you can use it later on by choosing: data - page properties. (I'm using Catia in Geman, so it might not be called exactly "Page properties" in the English version but something along those lines) and then insert background, choose yours from the list and bobs your uncle.
Title Block Fields in SOLIDWORKS is another way to create and add custom properties to a drawing and part. This tool allows you to define notes in the title block that can easily be edited by the user. The notes can be linked to properties or can be a static text.
The order the title block notes are selected determines the order users can tab through the fields to enter the information. These selections can be reordered by using the arrows in the Text Field selection area.
Hit the green check mark and exit Edit Sheet Format. Hover over the title block area and notice the Hotspot Border is highlighted as well as a Title Block Table 1 has been created and is a feature in the Sheet Format folder.
I am trying to simplify the title block input in Catia V5.21 by reading data from an .xls table and using it to populate the title block (part number, material code, description, revision, date, author etc). I want to do this in a title block that I will design (not the styles already implemented in Catia).
Try first to record a macro when you are creating your new title block, this will give you an idea how lines and text are created. After that you can start to connect Excel cells values with text values in CATIA.
After calling this command, a dialog window appears on the screen, which lists all types of title blocks provided with the system. You can manually add to this list the title blocks of your own design (see the section "Customize").
Select the title block type from the provided list, which you intend to apply to the drawing. After that, a window will appear for filling the title block. This window is a standard window for editing values of fragment external variables and will display by default the dialog created in the title block document using the interface control elements. Upon enabling the "Variables List", flag this window is displayed as the external variables editor.
When applying the title block, its fields "Drawing Number" and "Title" are automatically bound to the hidden variables of the current document. The same variables define the data for the BOM. Therefore, when inputting data in these fields of the format frame, the corresponding data is automatically entered in the BOM.
The title block can also be filled directly in the drawing. To do that, place the text cursor in the title block field, which needs to be filled, and click . A blinking cursor will appear in the selected field, indicating the readiness to input text, and a button with an arrow will appear next to the selected field, serving to select a value from the list. Initially, the list is empty (except for the fields in the "Date" column). If you need to fill in the list in order to have list values available in the future, then in the selected field enter the necessary text, and then select the "Add to List" item in the context menu.
Please note that, when inserting several title blocks into the current document (for example, for drawings located on different pages), the data from all title blocks will be bound to the same variables of the current document. As a result, the contents of the fields "Drawing Number" and "Title" of all title blocks will be same. As you edit fields in one title block, the text will be changing in all the rest of them. To disable this mode, you need to cancel the established relation with the hidden drawing variables, and then define the new field value. To do this, you need, regardless of the variable editing technique, call the context menu for the respective field. In the menu, clear the check in the "Insert Variable" item. After that, you can edit the text value in the current field. To relate this field with a new variable, call the same command again and define the name of the new variable in the upcoming "Insert Variable" window.
When editing the title block using the dialog for editing fragment external variables, you have another alternative. If you enable the "Variables List" flag in this dialog, then, instead of a dialog with interface control elements you'll see the standard list of the format frame fragment external variables. Find the "$Drawing_Number" and "$TITLE" variables in it (the fields "Drawing number" and "Title"), and replace their values with constants.
While working on a drawing, you may need to modify some layout parameters, for example, move the title blocks into a new position. In such a case, the position of the applied drawing notes and unset roughness symbol will remain unchanged. To have such elements positioned according to the new title blocks position, there is the command:
This tab contains the list of title block types used for layouts. You can edit this list using the buttons [Edit], [Add], [Delete]. The first two buttons call the same dialog window, only in the first case it is used for an existing type, and in the second - for a new one.
It is important to make CAD drawings presentable for both presentations and printing purposes. And one of the ways of doing so is by incorporating a neat title block in the drawing sheet where you place your CAD drawing.
However, drawing a title block from scratch may cost a CAD designer precious time especially when dealing with assembly drawings, which include drawings of more than one component. CAD designers can download free title blocks online to avoid wasting time drawing the title blocks from scratch.
We shall look at 5 sites that offer free title block templates for CAD designers in this post. However, before we get into listing the sites, it is important to understand several issues about title blocks to understand what you should be looking for when downloading the free title blocks from the sites. We shall first shed some light on what title blocks are, different types of title blocks, and different sizes and locations of title blocks within a CAD drawing.
Different CAD applications come with different types of title block layouts placed in different templates. Most of these templates place the title block at the bottom right corner of the drawing sheet and also include a border that extends along the edges of the drawing sheet.
DWGfree website offers free title block templates for AutoCAD .DWG files to save engineers and designers from unnecessary work designing and configuring title blocks and rather concentrate on designing and drawing.
The CADforum website offers free title blocks for drawing drawn using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, Revit, Fusion 360, and other 2D and 3D Autodesk CAD applications. The title block templates are available in IPT, DWG, F3D, and RFA file formats.
The NRCS website provides free title blocks in DWG formats. However, the DWG title blocks come in layout view with layers, dimensions styles, and text styles while the DWG title blocks are only available in model space.
A good Title Block should have consistency in appearance and information and should allow the person using the sheet drawing to easily implement the information provided on the title block and drawing.
There are two methods of making a title block in AutoCAD. One is by creating your own title block right from scratch and saving it as a template for future reference and the other by using any preexisting title block template. for purposes of making a simple title block in AutoCAD, you can use the preexisting templates. AutoCAD comes with several templates that cut across different fields. 2b1af7f3a8
